Fall is that you? Hair tips for fall!
In the colder months to come, it's important to give your curls what they need the most...
1. Moisture! - The combination of harsh cold and dry heat from running your heating system can tend to dry you out. Make sure that you treat your scalp just as you would the rest of your skin during the winter months. Oil your scalp at least 1-2 times per week to keep the scalp supple. Deep condition every wash day with heat or steam to open up your pores and allow the moisture to penetrate the hair follicles.
2. Protection- Protective styles such as two strand twists, flat twists, braids, updos, or weaves (done correctly) can help prevent dryness and breakage. Protect your ends by getting regular trims and putting your hair away for periods of time. Its recommended to trim your ends every 3-4 months. If you have chemically processed hair (color), you will want to try more often to avoid breakage. Also invest in a good bonnet for sleeping, even at nap time to protect those fragile ends. Satin pillow cases are amazing if you can't seem to keep your bonnet on at night (lol) and are ideal for the winter months as satin can make you sweat at night.
3. Hydration- As stated we tend to get dried out during the winter months, so intake of H2O is critical. Make sure you're getting your water in. Have you ever woke up in the middle of the night with a tight, dry throat? Keep a glass or bottle of water by your bed at night for when you wake up parched. Take a sip of water throughout the day every time you think about it.
Welcome FALL!!!
